Clover hardware is permanently locked to Fiserv's processing network. Square hardware only works with Square. If you decide to switch processors for better rates, every terminal you bought becomes useless — you're starting over on hardware. A Clover Flex costs $749. A Square Terminal costs $299. You don't get those back.
